http://autopendium.com/resources?resourceable_type=books Autopendium :: Classic Car Book Directory en-us 40 The reason I picked up this book originally, was because syndicated columnist Sharon Randall mentioned it in a column in March, 2010, alongside my collection of poetry, Telling Tales of Dusk, as one of four best reads in the country. When I read it, I was not disappointed! I agree with Sharon wholeheartedly... This book is tender, moving, charming and right-on when it comes to female relationships, especially Southern females. I should know because I'm a Southern female, myself! The characters are so well-drawn, one feels as if they are real people, and in reading their stories, it is impossible not to care about them. If I ever find myself in a nursing home situation, I pray that my caretakers have at least some of Lorraine's kindness, patience and sense of humor. This book is an original, and the author's "voice" a delight. I have lasting memories of my own great-grandparents who lived the last few years of their very long lives in a nursing home...and this book took me back to that time and those old memories. I was too young to know anything of their caregivers, but I pray that they, too, had a "Lorraine" who cared for them as lovingly as the fictional character that Todd Johnson has created so beautifully. The love and friendship between Margaret and Bernice is also very touching... I recommend this book with the highest enthusiasm!
