Club Lotus was founded in 1956 by the Lotus factory when they were based at Hornsey in North London. Colin Chapman was the first President and all original owners were automatically enrolled.

Since the 1970's the Club has been completely independent from Lotus Cars although close ties are still maintained with both Group Lotus and Classic Team Lotus.

Current membership has grown to 7600 over the past year which makes it the largest Lotus Club in the world. All types of Lotus are catered for.
