The Z & Farina Magnette Register belongs to the M.G. Car Club, which was founded in 1930 by John Thornley, then sales manager at M.G. in Abingdon.

The Register started in 1972 as a new section of the MGA Register called the Z-Magnette Group. In March 1974 the Z Magnette Register was fully fledged with it's own committee and title and in September the first national meeting was held at Donnington Park. The Farina section was included in 1998.
