History

The first all steel two seater US car since the 1957 Ford Thunderbird.  This is most likely the most sought after AMC product yet today with restored cars bringing 10's of thousand of dollars -- yet they are relatively inexpensive compared to other US muscle cars of the same era.  The AMX was named "Best Engineered Car of the Year" in 1969 and 1970 by the American Society of Automotive Engineers.  The model run was only 3 years.  In 1971 a high performance AMC Javelin/AMX variant was offered instead.  The Javelin was similar in appearance to the AMX except the Javelin... read more
