More of the same...

Tags: bodywork chassis floor outrigger restoration rust

Spent the afternoon down at Romance of Rust last Thursday, where there was more of the same... rust that is, in the other structural box section and outrigger.
Mark had done a good job on the other side, which had been completely replaced or rebuilt (box-section, outrigger, and floorplan), and was halfway through the drivers' side.

Though not quite as bad as the passenger side, there was rust and dodgy welding a plenty, with one prime piece -- the join between the box-section and the outrigger, now gracing the shelf of shame above my computer (home also to the lump of piston that made a hole in the side of my Camaro's block on the back straight at Oulton Park).

Meanwhile, Lance was working on the back of the car -- the other wheel arch was now done, and the rear flanges had been welded on; I was continuing to chip away at the sound deadening on the inside front wheel arch, and Lance had also Huggy in to wire brush the rust and pain off the engine bay.

So for much of the afternoon the Amazon had four of us on the car banging, grinding and scraping away at it. Brilliant.
