The Amazon's new nose (in brass)

Tags: bonnet brass coachbuilding customising mascot nose

Over the course of the past few days, Lance at Romance of Rust has been doing what he loves most -- taking a piece of metal and bending it to his will. In this case, a piece of stock 2x1-inch brass to make the Amazon's new bonnet mascot, or nose as I tend to think of it.

As anyone who's ever owned an Amazon knows, the pressed alloy factory ones (sometime chrome) never really fit, so we decided if we were going to have one, it'd have to be made from scratch. Along the way we've given in a slightly more aggressive look.

Hopefully the pictures explain this better than I can.

I've now taken the brass to the metal finishers for chrome plating.
