Engine rebuild started

Tags: 350 rebuild small-block

It's not much, but it's a start. Today I put my old two-bolt 350 in the back of the Van and took it over to Romance of Rust, who are restoring my Volvo Amazon, and who are kindly lending me an area of their shop to do the rebuild in.

I didn't quite get it into the Van and out again without a few knows, but it looks OK, and I even got as far as removing the damper (harmonic balancer) and timing chain.

The block was the one that came with the Camaro when I bought it and has a damaged piston. It was also a bit of a botch job, I suspect, certainly if the damper was anything to go by -- the rubber circle joining the two bits (there's probably a technical term) was in pretty lousy shape (see pic), and the threads for attaching the puller were knackered.

As this is the first rebuild I've done, expect a few screw-ups along the way.
