Amazon Love Affair
This car is my first Amazon. It's a reasonably early 122S having a build date in April 1963. This means it has a lot of the earlier detailing that makes it stand out from the more seen later 120s.
I'm no mechanic, but I'm keen to learn to do as many jobs as I can on her. She's my only car, and I do 70 miles a day for work, not to mention all the other driving. She has the original seat belts that I will keep, but none in the back at the moment. That needs to change so that I can take the whole family out in her. I think I will go for modern interia belts in the back, setting the tops below the rear parcel shelf. I need to find out where can do this for me though.
There are bodywork issues, but they all look reasonable to tackle. Ideally I need a new front end as the inside of this one is fairly rotted. There are a few bubbles appearing here and there, and some scuffs with rust where the front wings touch the windscreen surround. Speaking of that, I've squeezed black mastic all the way around the screens, both against the glass and against the metal, but I am still getting leaking onto the driver's floor, and the parcel shelf. The driver's side might be a door seal...I'm hoping, but the passenger side is clearly still the screen...any suggestions?
