One week to go
Tags: driving restoration
In theory, the Amazon's a week away (possibly less) from being back in my hands and being my main driver.
Went over to Romance of Rust yesterday to take it out with Lance for a shakedown, and to make sure we had the final list of snagging that needed doing, before going to the painters for a final touch up and machine polish.
Thankfully there's nothing major at all (the seat rake adjustment's not working properly), and the car drove brilliantly, with the IPD suspension continuing to surprise. As well as handling the corners well, it is just so forgiving of the bumps and holes in the road, and is in fact much more comfortable on London roads than my wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Steering too is excellent, though the smaller steering wheel will develop my muscles when parking. I took the engine fairy gently until the new rings have bedded in properly, but am looking forward to shaking that down in a month or so when I've done 500 miles and changed the oil and filter.
In theory I should be taking it to Mike at Auto Interiors Wednesday for a bit of snagging on the interior, then it's all mine, assuming I manage to do a deal on a local lock-up I've been looking at.
