Small steps to roadworthy: lights/parking brake

Tags

Couple of weeks ago thought I'd start tackling the various bits of servicing and checking that need to be done to get the Camaro through the MOT.

After sitting in the same place for over 10 years, there's going to be a fair few things that need sorting. First stop were the lights -- most were OK, with the exception of the drivers' side indicator -- dodgy earth. Next up were the brakes, and I started by checking the parking brake. Even though it had been kept off while parked, it still needed tightening.

And that's where the problems started. Within a couple of turns it became clear the thread was completely knackered. From the look of it, it's been in that condition for some time. Getting it out was a nightmare too, as the nut where the cable passed into the body was rusted tight and had to be cut off.

Fortunately getting a new one was fairly simple, and OCW got a new one in within a couple of days.
