At last, the Amazon gets a bit of attention
Finally got round to calling Lance at Romance of Rust, must be about 6 months after Jules gave me his number. Given it was Friday afternoon (and a hot 28 degrees in London) and neither of us were that busy, he suggested I popped over to talk through what I was thinking of.
As luck would have it, they were fettling up a very pretty Amazon Rally car that they'd done a lot of work on (see photo). It had just had been on a fairly hard rally and just needed a little work (though it was in fantastic condition even before they'd given it a going over).
Anyway, we discussed my Amazon, and Lance is going to come back to me early next week with some ideas. At the moment I'm wanting to get the bodywork in good condition (several bits, the nearside wing for a start, will have to be replaced), and give it a really nice paint job.
But it'd also be nice to make it a bit special -- after owning it for 18 years, I think it (and I) deserve it. Perhaps smoothing some of the lines, a bit of dechroming, repositioning the rear reflectors and front sidelights (the last we might put beind the grill). Small stuff, but just enough to give it that something extra.
