    This picture illustrates how the rear glass on these cars opened like a hatch. The car on the right is a 1976 model, when the grille changed again. Little else changed from previous years. The 1976 car also has swing out 1/4 glass.

    1967 Rambler American 440 Hardtop Coupe. This example has a 290 CID(4.9L) AMC Typhoon V8. AMC eventually developed the V8 hardtop Rambler into the feared 390 CID(6.5L) Hurst S/CRambler of 1969.
