My Dodge is one of 2,804 2dr hard tops built in 1963. A rare car. I collect pictures of others I occasionally find as there cannot be many left.
I don't actually "need" many specific parts for mine but would like to have some spares. On my browsing for cars and parts and pictures of salvage yards for pleasure I came across the above image on a website advertising a mopar salvage yard. I can just make out the back of a '63 880, in green! and it's a coupe!
I must give them a call.

I often wish I could have lived 30 - 50 years ago and enjoyed the motoring culture of the day. Then again I wouldn't want to miss out on owning cars that define my point of view in contrast with other cars now. I wonder whether we are the last generation to enjoy the ownership of what will surely be a unique and unrepeatable production of cars. I have always been and become increasingly troubled by the news that salvage yards are being cleared for steeel to build in China. If I were a rich I would buy one of ...read more

As I write this I am up in the fine city of Norwich having driven a 100miles in glorious sunshine to get here to visit my Mother. When alone in the car I just can't help driving it as fast as possible on the motorway, pushing it to the limit (not of power but of handling). I had all windows down and on the clear straights I just floored it, I blew the original "astrophonic" radio I was playing too loud - but music is always a disapointment compared with the sound of a 383 V8 anyway so I don't ...read more

Rather than bore you with technical details on how I have to park the 880, it can be summed up by saying a new friend with many Ford Motor Co products in his own garage suggested "maybe it wasn't worth it" while I was thrashing around with the steering wheel in order to get the car out. I assured him it was, indeed it always is. The first dawn of American car ownership was met by my insistance that Erica was to join me for breakfast in the 880, not that we would drive anywhere, we would have it in ...read more

Before I pick up again on my random stream of 880 consciousness I thought I'd add a new picture. "Erica in my 880", and no she's not driving just happenning to be sitting behind the wheel while parked. I have insured her on the 880 and am very happy for her to drive it - but as time goes on she is less and less keen. It stems from her driving my Golf (see first post) when that exploded on a motorway in the middle of France, I was not happy for reasons I won't go into. She became resolute ...read more

I agreed to purchase the car but would not have the money for about a month, kindly the vendor held the car for this time without deposit. I did Wheels Day during that period and didn't see one car that I preferred. The money came through and I was determined that I would not bottle it as I had done with a Gold '72 Dart a year prior. I went to the bank on a fine spring day to give notice of my large cash withdrawal thinking that I would have another 24 hrs to think. . . but no, ...read more
