racerbill56's 1979 AMC Spirit

My AMC Spirit has a long IMSA racing history starting at the July 4th, 1976 IMSA RS Daytona race (when it was bodied as a Gremlin) and continuing through the 1985 season. The car was fabricated by the famed AMC factroy-backed Team Highball run by Amos Johnson and his engine man Dennis Shaw. It was sold in 1979 to Milton Moise for he and his soon-to-be famouse daughter Patty to drive. Patty Moise who would later go on to NASCAR fame, drove the car in her first 2 professional races at age 18 in the Kelly Girl Challenge series. I purchased the car in 2004 after it sat in the last owners garage for 20 years and completed a cosmetic and mechanical restoration taking it back to it's Kelly Girl Challenge livery. I have just installed a fresh Dennis Shaw engine (he is still in the engine building business in N. Carolina) and plan to take it to VIR in the fall of '07 for its second IMSA RS reunion race.
