My Olds Cutlass race car is a tube frame Trans Am/ IMSA GTO race car; it started life in 1985 as a Camaro, running the 1985 Trans Am series with Paul DePirro driving. It has a Frings chassis and is powered by a 358" small block chevy engine making approximatley 650hp. In 1987 Paul ran the car in IMSA as a GTO car and then sold it to Raymond Irwin (owner of the Heartland Park and Blackhawk Farms race tracks in the US) who raced it at Sebring in 1990, finishing 7th in class. Later that year it was converted to the current Olds Cutlass bodywork and was reported to be thye first Olds to run in IMSA GTO. The car qualified 3rd at the 1991 24 Hours of Daytona with Boris Said driving along with Lou Gilotti, Peter Cunignham and Paul Schram. They finished 7th in class and the car continued to run IMSA, Trans Am and SCCA until last year at it's final Trans Am race in October 2006. I purchased it from Ray Irwin in early 2007 and have raced it locally and plan to bring it back to it's 1991 Daytona 24 Hour livery for vintage racing in 2008.
