1966 Ford Mustang. Heard about this car from a friend. He was interviewing someone for a job, she was American, he mentioned I liked old American cars, he husband was thinking of selling his car maybe I'd buy it...what car nobody seemed to know.

I got a call from the husband, it turned out to be this 66 Mustang he'd owned for a few years and wanted to get it out of storage at his mother place in San Francisco.

The car was bought in 1967 by a friend of his from a Ford dealership in SF, she was the second owner. It only ever lived California and Texas, she was an air stewardess. The only damage to the car was done in the 70's when she was a little the worse for drink and hit the toll both on the Golden Gate Bridge, it damaged the rear quarter a little but nothing major.

Before she died, she sold the car to her friend who drove a while but then stored it. I bought it sight unseen for $1300.
Shipped it back to the UK where it went through an MOT after making it road legal. No heater so it was freezing during the winter.
Eventually sold it to a guy in Manchester who was going to restore it.
