1969 Volvo Amazon. It may not look much at the moment, but I've recently bought this to use in Switzerland as it's left hand drive and I'm working over here.

It's going to have the Ruddspeed engine dropped in place of the tired 2 litre one, a new/secondhand black interior to replace the white interior and a pair of spot lamps.

The Ruddspeed had a gearbox with overdrive, so that's going in too.

I found out that the car was bought new in Sweden and had 3 previous owners before being bought by an Engish guy working in Sweden, he had the car repainted before shipping it back to the UK about 6 years ago.

It was sold to Brian Gue of Amazonia who ran it around for a few years before selling it to me.

Once I get the original 2 litre engine rebuilt it will go back in the car.

I had to abort my long awaited drive from the UK to Switzerland last weekend. Apart from the awful weather in the UK, the car developed a fuel vapour leak. Which wasn't great for a 10 hour drive across France...so I ended up taking it to a friends place to get it checked out and catching a flight back. The puzzling thing was there there no signs of a fuel leak anywhere, but the boot and cabin stank of fuel...it turned out to be a small crack under the filler neck. So the tank has now been emptied and in ...read more

So the heater has now been fixed, a simple adjustment was needed. The light terminals were cleaned up and now work, the door handle lock has been fixed but I'd still need a new handle sooner rather than later.

The original B20 engine has been steam cleaned and sent of to the engine builders to see what it needs, hopefully it won't be much.

The next journey for the car will be to drive it from the UK to Switzerland...I guess I'd better make sure my breakdown recovery is up to date!

As I've not posted anything on this car for a while, I thought I'd bring it up to date with a few photos. The Ruddspeed engine is in and the car is now up and running, there are still a few things I need to sort out with the car, like the heater which is still blowing out heat...great for the winter but not so good in the summer. Also there is a blown fuse as my headlights and sidelight don't work right nw...but all small stuff. I've now picked up the original 2 litre engine and will have it ...read more
