1948 Chevrolet Business Coupe. I'd been on a holiday in the US and as usual had bought a stack of car magazine to read/drool over on th plane home. I spotted this Business Coupe in the small ads. No internet in those days, so I called the phone number and spoke with the owner and he agreed to send me some photos.

It had had new paint on the car a few years before, and just needed a new interior and the front and rear bumper re-chroming. Some business Coupes just a front bench seat and lots of room for samples behind it, they found favor with traveling salespeople. This car had a rear seat though.

I bought it for $3000 and had it transported from Kansas to Oklahoma, where I had someone do the work.

When it was all done and ready to drive I flew in from California and spent a few days registering it and driving it around. It was such a quiet car when running and sometimes at lights I would push the floor starter button as I thought the engine had died, but it hadn't and the engine was still running. The radio stations were printed on paper and by turning the know the paper rolled either up or down.

Just before I was set to leave for LA, the guy who'd done the work had fallen in love with it and offered me a 1968 Dodge Coronet 440 (B5 blue with a white interior) plus some sach for the Coupe. When I fired the Dodge up and heard that V8 roar into life...I was hooked.

So I left the Business Coupe behind and head for the West Coast in the Coronet.
