The rebuild begins

Tags: reassembly rebuild restoration

After a week's holiday, dropped by Romance of Rust to see that the rebuild of the Amazon is coming along nicely. It started, apparently last Wednesday, when the now painted body was wheeled over from Paintforce.

Since then, the underneath has been stone-chipped, the front and rear glass as been put in (the rear glass is heated, pretty much a necessity given the UK's damp winters), the front and rear axles have been put in, and the engine and gearbox have been dropped in.

Actually, that's not quite how it was done -- as the front subframe had already been assembled, it made more sense to attach the engine and 'box to that and then 'drop' the body onto the whole thing.

In addition to all that the (body colour) heater unit's now been put back on, the brake lines have been run from back to front, and the petrol tank been dropped in.

Suddenly it's all starting to look rather car-like again.
