Our last race of the season was not a good one. First lap of practice I lost 3rd gear in the 5spd. Fellow Datsun buddies came up with a loaner gearbox and helped with the swap. Got out for the race but after 4 laps the camshaft broke into 3 pieces. Not a good day.

We all had a good time at VIR with the Z, even set an all time fast lap of 2:15 which is 3 sec's a lap faster than last year. Qualified 6th out of 30 cars and ended up 2nd in class which put a medal around my neck. Next race is late August at Lime Rock Park, our local race circuit.

Next on the "to do" list is:
1) Paint the new carbon fiber hood.
2) Paint the charcoal triple stripe scheme up the center of the car.
3) Graphics guys are making the numbers.
4) Lexan rear and side qtr windows need to be cut and installed.
First race for this season is early June.

The fiberglass hood that came on the car would have required many hours of repair, so a new hood was in order. My supplier didn't have any f/glass hoods in stock so he made me a deal on a new carbon fibre hood, at $50 bucks less than a new f/glass one. Very cool. That's the good news. Bad news is I'm not really suppose to have this material hood so we're going to paint to match the car. So here's a couple photos in it's raw look. Beauty piece huh?
