Our road going "hooligan motor"...

We had to have something to play with while Alan of England (see other entry) was being rebuilt.

Called Wilf because we bought him from top painter Wilf Stacey of Mirror Finish on Canvey Island.

1650 with DCOE 42's, big cam and big valves, 2000E box & RS200 diff. Some suspension parts "borrowed" from Alan of England - Milton FIA struts, rose jointed TCAs, strut brace etc.  Lotus Cortina steels - and colours!

Can generally be found noisily terrorising South (and Central!) London...

One year later

I get Wilf back. Now with a clutch but also the effects of being parked in a front garden for the best part of a year (had always been garaged previously) and no hope of an MOT. Happily those nice fellows at the MOT garage at Clapham came to the rescue, and a fair bit of welding later Wilf is on the road again - but I know I've got problems coming... Best to have oil in the diff...

Went off the watch the London to Brighton Commercial run with my son Freddy (aged three "Daddy this car is like a rocket") and Julian Balme (in his Lotus Alan +2). Much smoke steam type stuff emerges from rear of (new very noisy) car. Very seized diff, RAC collects and takes to John Castells' workshop... We discover that a three year fits nicely in the back of a +2, John reports that the clutch is on the way out as well. Serves me right for neglect - John now has a massive "to do" list...
