Rear suspension? Had to replace a lot in rear on my 74. To wide a tyre? The urge for width can throw suspension geometry off a lot.

I had one of these back in the day and it was a great ride. I hope you can fix it.

Struts??? Springs???? Bushings???? How much do you trust your shop? They just aren't that strange or odd to throw these guys for a loop. X 1/9 is just a nice set of 4 Mac Pherson Struts, (MR-2 flat stole this whole design). Have you lowered the car, or put on larger aftermarket whells and tires? If so factory alignment is out the window and plain wrong. E-mail me for after market alignment specs. ASE Cert Auto Tech, FIAT Tech from the 70's restored a bunch of these. SCCA Member since 1978

Re check alignment then have the suspension looked at Mind a street / track car it rides ruff by design it is my Vintage love But never have had a wandering problem.. But again once off the track the undercarriage is looked at after each race Yep I am one you see taking the longer way on a curve once in a while..

go to http://www.network54.com/Forum/12159/ for the X1/9 discussion group for knowledgable help on your X. My guess its a bad ball joint in the rear. Go to that site though, theres plenty more experienced owners who suffered handling problems like that first hand. Best of luck :)
