redranch's 1965 Pontiac Bonneville
Updated 3rd September 2010 Well a recent trip to see the cars has confirmed my choice...
Just looking for some names and makes of the more affordable rally cars out there. Not the Lancia Stratos that are retailing for $500,000 USD. I was looking at a Lancia Fulvia Coupe, but are there any other good classic rally cars? I guess "good" is a vague term but: reasonably priced, good handling, not underpowered etc. Also, are there any websites with lists or recommendations?
Try a Lotus if you like any one will do. In 1974 I think it was, the "Press on Regardless Rally" was won (all classes) by a couple of women school teachers in a Corolla. In rally driving, it is more in the driver navigator pair that wins then the car choice.

you might need to narrow what you want down just a bit.... Do you want a car to have fun driving or are you looking for an investment? I have alot of fun driving my '92 subary legacy, AWD, MT and turbo. Before purchasing it I looked at a Mazda 323GTX and an Audi Quattro Coupe. Both of those are actual production Homologate cars, and all 3 were used in different rally circuits. Nowdays the subaru Impreza is probably the most popular awd rally car around. Fiat 131 Abarth, Ford Escort Mk2 RS2000, Austin Mini Cooper S, Lancia Delta Integrale, Audi 100 Quattro, Peugeot 205... All can be had at a fairly reasonable price and all of them have a strong rally pedigree.
